      • Manufacturing Processes - You will understand, identify and classify the basic manufacturing processes.
      • Rocket Build – You will use manufacturing processes to build and launch a working rocket.
      • Biomass – You will understand the use of biomass as an alternative to fossil fuels.
      • Floor Skimmer– You will use manufacturing processes to build and launch a floor skimmer.
      • Battlebot Build You will use manufacturing processes and design knowledge to build a battlebot.
      • Solar Power – You will understand how solar power is used for large scale electricity production.

Class Expectations

Be Prepared – Schedule your time appropriately and have your required materials. Make sure to make progress on your assignments on days you are not present at school!

Be Considerate – Follow the "Ways of the Wolf" and be respectful, responsible and safe. Be on time and show respect for your teacher and classmates during class and when you join a Zoom meeting. Before leaving the classroom, clean your work area, put away your supplies and project, and push in your chair.

Be Efficient – Immediately begin your assignments when assigned. Write due dates in your agenda and appropriately use class time to finish your work. While no homework is assigned in this class, any work you are unable to complete as scheduled must be completed as homework.

Assignment Completion

All assignments for each module  are available in the Canvas Modules link. To start an assignment, first click on the assignment to review any directions. If there are worksheets to be completed, click the assignment link then the Take the Quiz button to review the questions. Research your answers to complete each assignment question (it's not a test!). Once you determine an answer to a question, select the appropriate answer. When complete, click the Submit Quiz button.  Your current attempt score, kept score (the average kept if you resubmit the assignment), and the number of attempts you have available will display in the upper right corner of your screen. Your correct and incorrect answers will also display below the assignment instructions.

You may rework an assignment to improve your grade, but you are not required to do so. Research (and ask me questions!) to resolve your incorrect answers. When you are ready to resubmit an assignment, click the Take the Quiz Again button. You have to answer ALL the questions again, not just those you missed! When complete, click the Submit Quiz button, and your scores will update.

If resubmitted, your final grade on an assignment is the average of both attempts. If you resubmit an assignment after its due date you MUST notify your teacher that you have done so, so that your new grade can be posted to Skyward. Because you can rework assignments to improve your grade, no extra credit will be provided.

As you work to complete your assignments, I'm ALWAYS happy to help with any questions you may have. Chat with me during class, during ELT, before/after school, send me an email (cgraham@usd232.org) or join a Zoom meeting!

Missing, Absent and Late Work Policies

The make-up work policies published in the USD232 Student and Family Handbook: Information Guidelines & Procedures are followed in this class. After any absence, it is your responsibility to contact your teacher to determine any missed lessons or assignments, and to complete any missed work. You will have the number of days absent plus an additional day to complete any missing work and your due date will be adjusted accordingly. Any work not completed by the adjusted due date will be considered late.

Your assignment grades are tracked in Canvas as you work to complete each assigned module. Once the module's due date is reached, the assignment points you've earned for that module will be entered into Skyward. Points for missing or resubmitted assignments will be updated in Skyward as they are submitted.

Any module with no work completed by the due date will be posted with a zero grade and an “NHI” (Not Handed In) in Skyward. Once missing work is completed, the grade earned will be entered into Skyward. Any late assignment MAY be assessed a 10% penalty for each late day up to 40%. Late and resubmitted assignments will NOT be accepted later than two weeks after their due date.

Grading Scheme

The standardized grading scale for sixth through twelfth grades published in the USD232 Student and Family Handbook: Information Guidelines & Procedures will be used in this class. Completed module grades are always kept current and can be viewed in Skyward at any time.
